Eastern Equine Encephalitis — United States
Representatives of the City-County [Cascade County] Health Department said [Sat 8 Aug 2015] that 2 confirmed cases of equine encephalitis [presumably this is eastern equine encephalitis – Mod.TG], “sleeping sickness”, have been reported in the Great Falls area. The disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, strikes both horses and humans. In the local area cases — one south of the city and the other in the Vaughn area — they are both in horses.
