Tularemia — United States
3 Dewey-area rabbits have tested positive for tularemia by Arizona Game & Fish (AGF), who were responding to reports by residents of a rabbit die-off.
Tularemia is treatable, and is a naturally occurring illness in the United States, with about 200 human cases reported each year, most cases occurring in the western and south-central states. It is caused by a bacterium found in animals (especially rodents, rabbits and hares), and is passed to both domestic animals and people.
