Socorro County is now in the list of New Mexico counties with mosquitoes capable of transmitting Zika virus. Researchers have found _Aedes aegypti_ — one of 2 mosquito species capable of transmitting the viral illness — in the City of Socorro, the New Mexico Department of Health [DOH] said today [Tue 22 Aug 2017]. Socorro marks the northern-most location of _Aedes aegypti_ yet found in the state.
