Avian Influenza — Worldwide/Unknown
The Michigan DNR and the departments of Agriculture and Rural Development have announced the first confirmed case of the highly pathogenic avian influenza — also known as bird flu, have been found in the state.
The disease was found in free-ranging Canada geese in Macomb County.
Avian influenza is a virus that can infect both wild and domestic poultry such as chicken, turkeys, quail, and geese.
3 goslings collected in Sterling Heights tested positive for the disease.
