Eastern Equine Encephalitis — Canada
A horse that died nearly a month ago has been confirmed as carrying a potentially lethal disease for both humans and horses.
The North Bay/Parry Sound District Health Unit has been informed by Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Public Health Ontario of a dead horse in the Sundridge area testing positive for eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEv).
The risk of a person being infected with EEEv remains extremely low. There has never been a human case of EEEv
