A viral disease, eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) affects the central nervous system and is transmitted to horses by infected mosquitoes. On 5 Aug 2016, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced on its Facebook page the state’s 4th case of eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in a horse this year.
