Lyme Disease — United States
Ticks are the primary carriers of Lyme disease, and many other illnesses that are more common in Arkansas. Recently, the Arkansas Department of Health [ADH] determined that 2 cases of tick-borne disease met the surveillance definition for Lyme disease. A case in Arkansas has not met the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) surveillance definition since 2007.
