Newcastle Disease — Czech Republic
A citizen of Libichova [Dobrovice, Central Bohemia (Středočeský)], has drawn the attention of the Regional Veterinary Administration to mass mortalities of wild turtle doves in the village since the end of February 2016. A sample from the dead birds was sent, in early March 2016, to the State Veterinary Institute, Laboratory, in Prague, where experts identified the deadly pigeon disease as paramyxovirus which is a close relative of the Newcastle disease virus of poultry.
