A 74-year-old Big Horn County man died on Sun 16 Aug 2015 after a 39-day struggle with tularemia. Experts believe he may be the 1st person in Wyoming to die from the disease in 2015. The disease, sometimes called rabbit fever, is spread to humans by rodents and rabbits, as well as ticks and deer flies. The wildlife disease occurs almost every year in Wyoming. However, there appear to be more cases in Wyoming in 2015, in part due to booming cottontail rabbit populations.
