Meningitis – Neisseria — United States
An Oregon State University [OSU] student has been diagnosed with meningococcal disease, raising the possibility of a fresh outbreak on the Corvallis campus.
Benton County health officials announced on [Fri 27 Oct 2017] that an OSU undergrad is being treated for the potentially deadly illness, which can be spread through close contact with an infected person. Test results showing which strain of the disease is involved are expected to be available next week.
