Texas health officials confirmed the state’s 1st case of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome [HPS] this year [2015] in a resident of the Texas Panhandle. The Texas Department of State Health Services reminds people to protect themselves from the virus that causes HPS. Although the person recovered from the infection, HPS is often severe and sometimes fatal.
Officials at the Department of State Health Services told KAMR Local 4 that they would not reveal the county the victim is from due to safety
