Hepatitis A — United States
A total of 2 people in San Diego have died from hepatitis A and 36 people have been hospitalized from the disease, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency (CHHSA). Up to 29 of those cases have a history of substance abuse and 27 are homeless. Five people became ill with hepatitis A after traveling outside the United States. No common sources of infection have been identified and investigations are still ongoing.
