Nipah/Hendra Virus — Australia
A 25-year-old unvaccinated mare has died from Hendra virus near Scone [New South Wales].
According to NSW DPI [New South Wales Department of Primary Industries}, the horse developed neurological signs on [Fri 7 Jun 2019], after being confined to a yard for 3 days. As the horse was not vaccinated and had a sudden onset of neurological signs, the owners contacted the animal diseases hotline. It was later euthanised by the owners after becoming unresponsive.
