The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported a human infection with a novel influenza A virus in a Wisconsin child. The patient, a child less than 18 years of age, was infected with an influenza A(H1N1) variant (A(H1N1)v) virus.
According to the CDC’s FluView report, the child was not hospitalized and has completely recovered from their illness. Investigation into the source of the infection revealed that the patient had direct contact with swine.
