A rare, sometimes fatal tick-borne virus has been confirmed in Dutchess County, [New York]. Allison Kaufman, county public health advisor, said a case of the virus [infection] was confirmed in late July [2018]. The person who contracted the virus reportedly had been ill since June [2018], Kaufman said.
